April - Istanbul to Gallipoli -
Guided Tour of Gallipoli
We will meet at 6:30am at the
designated Samyeli Travel meeting
point in the Sultanahmet area (close
to where most hotels and hostels are
located). We will board the coach
and head towards Gallipoli stopping
to pick up supplies for lunch and
the overnight stay at Gallipoli. You
will also have an opportunity to
watch a movie about Gallipoli so you
get a feel for the type of people
who fought in this war and to help
you picture conditions 96 years ago.
Once we arrive in Gallipoli we will
have a fully guided tour, you will
visit the Kabatepe War Museum,
Anzac Cove, Hell Spit Cemetery, Lone
Pine, The Nek and the Chunuk Bair
War Memorial. You will then head
to Anzac Cove to get a good
spot for the Dawn Service which
starts early the following morning.
Overnight: Anzac Cove
Day Two:
Monday 25th April - ANZAC Day (Gallipoli
to Istanbul)
At first light
you will experience the Dawn
Service, a truly moving experience
for everyone. You will hear tributes
and tales of your fellow countrymen
and join the many thousands who make
the pilgrimage to Gallipoli to
remember the fallen. After the Dawn
Service you will make your way to
the various sites for the different
commemorations. First is the
Australian Service at Lone Pine
and then the New Zealand service
at Chunuk Bair. At the
conclusion of the NZ service you
will be collected from either Lone
Pine or Chunuk Bair by your guide
and coach and will depart to Eceabat
where there will be time for a short
break and those who wish to leave
the tour here can do so and head by
ferry to Canakkale on the main land
to continue their travels around
Turkey. The coach will then depart
for Istanbul arriving in the evening
and will drop you off at the Samyeli
Travel Meeting Point.
Please note: Accommodation is
not provided.
Important:
Please bring a day pack for
carrying things with you overnight
at Anzac Cove and the next day in
Gallipoli as once you put your main
luggage on the coach on the morning
of the 24th in Istanbul you will not
have chance to access it again until
arriving in either Eceabat (Canakkale)
or Istanbul on the afternoon/evening
of the 25th. Your main luggage will
be securely locked away in the coach
overnight. Please also note that the
weather in Anzac Cove overnight can
get very cold so we suggest you
